The desktop app is a thin native shell — the heavy lifting (extraction, retrieval, synthesis) happens in the cloud workspace. The local app earns its install for four things.

01 · capture

Global hotkey capture

Hit ⌥⇧N from anywhere — a new note opens in the menu bar with the current app's context as title. Voice mode by default; type if you'd rather.

02 · voice

Local voice capture

Press to record, press to stop. Audio uploads to your workspace; transcripts and entity extraction arrive minutes later. No third-party app, no broken email chain.

03 · sync

Folder watching

Point it at any folder of markdown — Obsidian vault, daily-notes directory, scratch folder. Aletheia reflects changes into the workspace within seconds.

04 · mcp

One-click MCP setup

Detects Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, and any MCP-capable client on your machine. Adds the Aletheia server config without you opening a JSON file. Revokes cleanly when you sign out.

Install & first run

Download the installer for your OS using the buttons above. Open the file.

On macOS, drag the app icon into Applications. On Windows, the installer walks you through it.

Launch Aletheia. Sign in with the email you used for your workspace.

Grant microphone access (for voice capture) and accessibility (for global hotkeys). Skip either; both can be granted later.

Optional: point the folder watcher at your existing markdown folder. The app will index in the background.
